Hi All:

This is the last of the Smart Business & Marketing Plan software. We
have three left, for anybody else who is interested. We will be
closing it out after today.

Today we start a new series in Business Tips called "Going for the
Big Ones." We discuss selling larger accounts vs smaller ones, and
include tips on how and why to do so. We will also include an
example of how it works.

List member Pam Danziger has an excellent report "Luxury Consumers
Will Spend About Twice as Much as Middle-Income Shoppers on Gifts
This Holiday Season." It should be a great selling season.

Now, let's get to everything for the retailer.

[3] Business Tips - Going for the Big Ones
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It takes as much time to sell a large deal as it does a small deal.

At one startup doing under $1 million in annual revenue, we were able
to beat out companies like Bank of America, PayPal and Western Union
in a large international deal. At another company where we had seven
people, we obtained Fortune 50 clients, beating out major firms with
much larger resources. It's all in the presentation!

I strongly believe that sales should be an industry of it's own. A
good closer should be able to sell anything to anybody. There may be
slight differences selling a product (tangible) vs service
(intangible), but otherwise, selling is selling.

So what's my secret? It's more than one secret. Rather it is a
combination of strategy, marketing and confidence. What are you
selling? Comfort. The prospect needs to be comfortable that you can
solve his problems, have credibility, have the strength to carry out
the deal and know what you are doing.

Here are my thoughts:.... http://etailersdigest.com/etd/etd1023.htm#Tips

Next we will continue going for the big ones, with more tips and an
actual example of how it can work.

[4] Member Post - Luxury Consumers Will Spend About Twice as Much
as Middle-Income Shoppers on Gifts This Holiday Season.

In Unity Marketing's latest survey of affluent consumers about their
luxury purchases and spending, luxury consumers (top 25 percent of
U.S. households based on income) plan to spend an average of $1,903
making their holiday gift purchases. This according to the Luxury
Tracking survey of over 1,000 luxury consumers (average income $149.1
k average age 43.4 years) conducted in October 2006.

Luxury consumers have significantly more discretionary income, so
they can be more generous with their gift selections. This year
affluent men, especially those of the baby-boomer generation, will
spend the most buying holiday gifts.

Luxury Consumers More Likely to Give ....
