[3] Business Tips - Why Open-To-Buy?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You must learn how to use your Open-To-Buy to buy more effectively.
It requires some work and a lot of discipline but it will be well
worth it in better cash flow and higher profits.
Let's look at your operation. Do you overstock when sales increases
are good, and under stock when prospects are bad? Is so, a relatively
small increase in sales often leads to excessive buying - then when
sales slow down high markdowns are taken to clear out this excess
supply of merchandise. This, in turn, leads to lower gross
profit. ... much more here....

Next we will learn how to calculate Open-To-Buy and the elements in
the formula.

[4] Member Post - IBM Hits Amazon With E-Commerce Patent Suit
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IBM sued Amazon.com, alleging that the giant Internet retailer is
infringing on five IBM patents that a company executive calls
"seminal" to electronic commerce.
The suits tap into the long-simmering debate over whether patents on
methods of doing business should apply on the Internet, where ideas
are easily replicated. Critics say patents smother high-tech
innovation by cutting out healthy competition, while proponents say
they give companies a reason to invest in new technology without fear
that it will be immediately copied.
